Background of the study
Library workshops are increasingly recognized as vital for bolstering students’ research methodology skills. In Bida Local Government Area, these workshops are tailored to provide hands-on training in research design, data collection, and analytical techniques. Such programs integrate theoretical instruction with practical exercises, enabling students to develop robust methodologies for academic research (Abiola, 2023). The interactive nature of these workshops fosters a collaborative learning environment where students can share experiences and refine their research strategies. With the rapid expansion of digital technologies, library workshops now also focus on digital research tools, thereby enhancing students’ abilities to manage and analyze large datasets (Umar, 2024). However, challenges persist regarding workshop frequency, resource limitations, and varying levels of student preparedness, which may affect the overall impact of these initiatives. This study investigates how library workshops in Bida contribute to improving research methodology skills among students and identifies strategies to optimize these educational interventions (Sani, 2024).

Statement of the problem
Although library workshops are designed to enhance research skills, students in Bida often report inconsistent outcomes due to limited session availability and insufficient practical components. Many workshops fail to address diverse research needs, leading to gaps in students’ understanding of comprehensive research methodologies. This inconsistency affects the overall quality of academic research produced by students. The study aims to explore these shortcomings and propose targeted improvements to ensure that library workshops effectively enhance students’ research skills (Ibrahim, 2023).

Objectives of the study

To evaluate the effectiveness of library workshops in developing research methodology skills.

To identify challenges that hinder the effectiveness of these workshops.

To recommend improvements for optimizing research training sessions.

Research questions

How do library workshops enhance students’ research methodology skills?

What challenges impede the effectiveness of these workshops?

What improvements can be made to maximize workshop outcomes?

Significance of the study
This study is significant as it examines the impact of library workshops on students’ research proficiency. The insights gained will help academic institutions and library professionals refine workshop content and delivery methods, thereby fostering higher-quality research outputs in Bida (Chukwu, 2024).

Scope and limitations of the study
Limited to the topic only.
